The challenges

Cap tables, vesting schedules, dilution, and round simulations are inherently complex. Many users are first time founders who may not fully understand equity mechanics but still need to make high impact decisions. Presenting this data without overwhelming users was a critical challenge.

Equity data is sensitive, small mistakes can lead to serious legal or financial consequences. Users needed to trust the platform completely, which meant the UX had to feel precise, transparent, and reliable at every step.

Founders wanted full visibility into their equity structure, while also expecting a clean and simple interface. Balancing transparency with usability without hiding critical information, was one of the core design tensions.

Approach

I simplified complex equity concepts by breaking them into smaller, digestible components and guiding users through clear visual hierarchies, contextual explanations, and step by step flows for actions such as creating incentive plans or simulating funding rounds, allowing users to build understanding gradually while staying in control.

Given the sensitivity of equity data, I designed the interface to inspire confidence and trust through consistent layouts, predictable interactions, clear labeling, explicit confirmations for critical actions, and reassuring visual feedback that data was accurate and up to date, resulting in a calm and structured experience that reduced cognitive stress.

My design decisions were driven by distinct user personas founders, employees, and investors, ensuring founders could quickly access key insights, investors received transparent but read only views, and users with simpler needs were not overwhelmed by unnecessary complexity.

Building the visual language

Before designing screens, I established a visual identity and design system that would carry through the entire product. The brand needed to feel trustworthy and precise, appropriate for a financial tool — while remaining clean and approachable for non-finance users.

Key screens

The product covers several distinct surfaces — each designed around the specific mental model of its primary user. Below are the core screens that define the experience.

Results after launch

The platform launched to a user base that largely had prior experience with similar tools, a high bar for first impressions. The reception was positive across the board.

  • Positive user reception: Users with prior experience on similar platforms responded positively, validating the UX direction and the decision to prioritize clarity over feature density.

  • Feature requests, not bug reports: Post-launch feedback was primarily requests for new functionality, a strong signal that the core experience was solid and users were eager to do more inside the platform.

  • Minor UX refinements: Small UX issues surfaced and were addressed post-launch, expected for a first release of this complexity, and a healthy part of the iteration cycle.

€1.2M estimated annual revenue: The platform's commercial traction validated the product-market fit and the decision to invest in a polished, trustworthy experience.

After launching Nimity, traction among founders was immediate. Over 2,500 users converted to paid plans.

"The platform exceeded our expectations at launch. Users adapted quickly, and the main feedback was about adding more, not about fixing what was already there."
